***PLEASE TAKE ACTION***

GBGB MD Mark Bird recently claimed that 87% of greyhounds retire and ‘go on to live other lives’ but how many of the 7,661 greyhounds that ‘retired’ in 2017 were exported to countries with no welfare laws just like Buzz Bomb Alley?

In 2015 a formal agreement was made between Defra and the GBGB. One of the requirements of that agreement was to “publish summary statistics for the number of greyhounds that leave the sport each (and by what method)” which would include ‘Racing Abroad’

The GBGB has failed to publish ‘by which method’ 7,661 greyhounds left the industry in 2017 – therefore breaching their agreement with Defra.

Please contact your MP/MSP and ask them to write to David Rutley – the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs – and respectfully request that the Government reviews the 2010 Greyhound Welfare Regulations and legislate for the publication of annual summary statistics to include by which method a greyhound leaves the industry – to include exports – as per the 2015 formal agreement.
