Shawfield greyhound ‘Tristar’ tests positive for cocaine

A trainer attached to Shawfield dog track in Scotland has been found guilty of administering cocaine to a greyhound in his ‘care’ during a GBGB internal disciplinary hearing on January 9^th.  Mr W Rae was reprimanded and fined the paltry sum of £500. You would have to question whether the self-regulated industry attracts the criminal elements of society when by comparison Rae would have received a custodial sentence for possession of a Class A drug and penalised for breaches of the Animal Welfare Act for administering a poisonous substance.
