We have received a statement from the BBC that was read out recently on Colin Murray’s Kicking Off radio show – which read as follows

“Normally on a Friday night we get our weekly dose of greyhound commentary to find out how our favourite dog – Show me the Bunny – is getting on. Unfortunately due to security issues the dog is being moved to new kennels and therefore we’ve decided not to continue with this feature. We have been in touch with the British Greyhound board and the dog will continue racing or will be retired and placed in a home for retired greyhounds. We’ll keep you posted.”

Unfortunately ShowMe TheBunny is still being raced at the risk of sustaining a serious injury and has been moved from the kennels we exposed last month but it is excellent news that the BBC have decided to stop promoting the gambling on dogs to a national audience as a ‘great fun night out’ and as a ‘sport’

Many thanks to everyone who wrote and phoned in to complain to the BBC and also those advocates who held protests outside the BBC offices – a combination of which will have had an influence on the BBC’s decision.

We are still awaiting a response from the GBGB to a complaint we submitted at the time of the exposure – raising our concerns on a number of issues. As the BBC say – we’ll keep you posted!
